Transforming lives one punnet at a time.
Supporting projects to improve health and education in Northern Uganda.
Recognising the need to give back, we forged a partnership that enables all Australians to give back through the purchase of a punnet of Eureka blueberries. Five cents from every punnet purchased is donated to World Vision to invest in programs that improve livelihoods in poor communities around the world. Since 2016, Eureka blueberries have donated over $600,000 to World Vision.
The support this provides communities in Uganda has included major upgrades for a district health centre, the construction of teacher housing, critical to the education of the communities as well as support for an annual youth soccer tournament.
Assisting farming families is close to our heart, having come from the land ourselves. With the assistance and reach of World Vision, we are able to support education in farming practices within farming communities, improving food and income sources, and building a better, healthy outlook for future generations.
Supporting farmer innovation
The donations from each punnet of Eureka Blueberries help support initiatives like Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration or FMNR. For over 10 years now, Tony Rinaldo, the Forest Maker has led projects with World Vision to introduce the concept of FMNR to rural communities across Africa and Asia and in the process, regenerate over one million hectares of degraded land.
Through FMNR, local farmers are taught to prune the regrowth sprouting from tree stumps and roots to make room for crops. This is different from past years when these stumps were burnt or left to the weeds. As the trees regrow, the land is revitalised, which leads to improved harvests and livestock productivity, and increased food and income for farming families.
