In 2024, Mountain Blue are trialling sustainable packaging initiatives with support from Opal Packaging. This September and October, Eureka Blueberries will be featured in a trial of 100% recyclable punnets in North Coast NSW stores.

Why is it not all stores?
With any change comes different challenges with packing and scalability. This trial is also seeking to gather valuable customer feedback, helping to shape and enhance future packaging solutions.

Sustainable packaging for a sustainable future

Eco-Friendly Packaging Solutions

  • Dream it

It all begins with an idea to develop a sustainable punnet that is 100% recyclable, made from materials that can be placed in home recycling, leaving plastics behind.

  • Design it

Working with Opal Packaging, a unique punnet was developed that is made from 100% cardboard alongside cellulose acetate clear windows - a fiber that is made from tree pulp and built for your home recycling.

    What is Cellulose Acetate?

Cellulose acetate fiber, one of the first synthetic fibers, is made from cotton or tree pulp. This material is then processed into the clear windows you see on our punnets.

  • Do it

Working together on this initiative, we have introduced cardboard punnets for a trial period to further understand our customer’s wants and desires for sustainable packaging for the future.
